Halliburton Gets Contract To Pry Gold Fillings From New Orleans Corpses' Teeth
September 14, 2005 | Issue 41•37

HOUSTON—On Tuesday, Halliburton received a $110 million no-bid government contract to pry the gold fillings from the mouths of deceased disaster victims in the New Orleans-Gulf Coast area. "We are proud to serve the government in this time of crisis by recovering valuable resources from the wreckage of this deadly storm," said David J. Lesar, Halliburton's president. "The gold we recover from the human rubble of Katrina can be used to make fighter-jet electronics, supercomputer chips, inflation-proof A-grade investments, and luxury yachting watches."

You know you live in a sad sad world when the onion does a better job covering the news than any main stream news orgnazition.

Especially since The Onion is only 37% fiction, while most news broadcasters are about 54% fiction.

True, and true. I think that the "left" should become the "right," and the "right" should become the "wrong."

No kidding I mean, when ever the repugs need more people they go even furter to the right,

But dammit the dems won't go left, we keep going more and more to the right, so the center keeps drifting more and more conservative...grr //gets and steamy// I'll let it go

Progressive values (liberal values) are american values
1. public education
2. safe air and water
3. interstates
4. NASA
5. Univeral healthcare
6. helping people in their time of need

But what needs to happen is the democrats need to wake up and go wait a mintue we stood for somthing once.

I really don't like how conservatives keep flaunting Christianity. Kinda like the bumper sticker: "Democrat. Christian. You can't be both!" If you look at all of the issues, I opine that Jesus would have voted for Kerry (or Nader). Definitely not Bush.

I doubt Jesus would vote for either one. Jesus was a hippie, not a career politician lover.

This is very true. Ya I think they have calmed religion to claim all the sheeple out there...and the sad thing is that it worked better than they could ever of hoped.

I refuse to align myself with the left or the right, because they're both the same damn party and they're both WRONG!

Of course the Green Party isn't really electable on a national level yet, however we have better principles than the two major parties.

the left generlly refers to the liberal views, but what has happend over the years is the middle has moved to the right (tragiclly) so what is happing is the baerly left is still conservative but if your true left that is a pretty good spot to be ;p

The green party is pretty left on the scale

This is if you are measuring it with the watered-down "Left-Right" politcal scale. There is no accurate definition of what is Left and what is Right, as each person has their own idea of what they feel should be in the political office. Partisan politics is a destructive force that creates hatred, with a bitter "us vs. them" mentality. It is not productive, and does not resolve anything.

Okay, now I'm confused. No issues with the Green Party, but how is left and right the same party? (I'm neither left nor right, but I'm definitely not right.) Are you talking about Dems/Repubs?

The concept of liberals and conservatives are vastly different, as liberals want to change for the better and conservatives want to keep it the same for the better. However that does not really define the current two party system. The Republican and Democratic party both strive to achieve the same goal, get as much money and power as possible, while providing support to their rich corporate friends. They have little, if any, concern for the working class and want to keep the illusion alive that their party is working for the working class and the other party is working for the corporate bigwigs.
